Home Page (WASS)

Welcome to the Home Page of Working Art Space Sheffield (WASS). We are a not for profit organisation providing gallery services to Artists living in the Kentish Region of Tasmania. Our galleries are operated by Volunteers who, for the most part are also Artists.

Our Vision

Working Art Space Sheffield provides support to local artists to create and exhibit locally created artworks.
We provide a high quality, well promoted gallery service open to the general public to view and/or purchase local arts and crafts.
We aim to respond to the needs of the community by providing an exhibition space open to local member artists and by encouraging all sectors of the community to participate.
We will remain a community run initiative, facilitated by a committee, operated by volunteers and supported by the Kentish Council.

WASS operates a Gallery, the Sheffield Art Gallery and a workshop, Working Art Space in the town of Sheffield, Tasmania where we exhibit and sell Arts and Crafts created by our talented and diverse group of local artisans. The Albert Gallery is also a multi-use space where members can gather to practice their art and network with fellow artists. This space is also used to hold periodic workshops under the tutelage of one of our group of talented Artists willing to share their skills and expertise with others. This space is also used for our regular meetings and to hold social functions from time to time.

WASS operates as a special committee of the Kentish Council and our two galleries are housed in Council owned premises in Sheffield
