Exhibition Archives

2 August 2025 to 30 September 2025

Cindy Thompson is a textile artist who lives in beautiful Barrington, Tasmania.
Her love of hand embroidery, sewing, fabric and colour has morphed itself over the years into her own style that includes free motion machine embroidery and working with dissolvable fabric. The colour and texture of fabric and thread is an inspiration for her to create her pieces. This is Cindy’s first ever exhibition and clearly shows the love she has of this medium. Don’t miss out on seeing the varied artworks that Cindy has produced.

Wild

Sunday 1 June to Thursday 31 July 2025
All that is WILD – an exhibition combining magnificent animals of the wild (Art Nook) and unique free form organic clay works (Wild Clay) created from locally sourced and pit fired clay.

RUTH RUTHERFORD – Wild Clay

Before, living in Kununurra, I learned from the lore men and women, embracing and being embraced by country; so red and rugged, so wild, unpredictable, unforgettable. Hands also learning tactile skills from people, plants and soil.

Now, living in Tasmania’s lush, wild landscape, I’m learning again to listen to country, to let my hands dig the wild clays, to form the organic shapes, to pit fire and burnish by hand until each shape is as smooth as earthen silk.

SUSAN KENNERLEY – Art Nook
The eyes have it! I love creating animal portraits in pastels, charcoal, acrylics, coloured pencils or graphite, I aim to capture the special magic in a creature’s eyes and watch as their character evolves. The fox’s quirky grin, the rhino’s steadfast gaze and the sheer majesty of lions.

I’ve loved dabbling in all kinds of art since moving to Tasmania, learning from others, while developing my own style. I love bringing fun, learning and creativity to students in my workshops.
